The first ten year’s of GCC’s work was based on the theory that strategically aligning funders to support advocacy groups influencing local and regional plans would spur development of affordable, equitable communities near transit. These communities can provide a host of benefits for both local residents and for the region, including increased use of transit and active transportation (as well as the associated economic, environmental, and public health benefits), vibrant communities, and preservation of the Bay Area’s open spaces.
