Landlord AMB Properties has signed a 172,000-square-foot lease with DBI Beverage in South San Francisco, a 10-year agreement that represents the largest industrial leasing deal on the Peninsula in a decade.
The Nashville, Tenn.-based DBI Beverage, which currently has its California operations at 2225 Jerrold Ave. in San Francisco, will move into 245 Spruce Ave., space the San Francisco International Airport previously used.
The 21.5-acre property has 560,000 square feet of space and is within walking distance of the San Bruno BART station. AMB plans to eventually entitle it for transit-oriented development, according to Mark Hansen, the firm’s senior vice president for value-added conversion. But for now — especially given the weakness in the housing, retail and office markets — the property is ideal for distribution and warehousing.
“It’s ideally suited for continued industrial as well as future redevelopment,” said Hansen. “It’s a unique facility that doesn’t have a lot of competition in the market.”
